Work n Progress

Happy Monday all, if of course you’re reading this on Monday, if not Happy Day, whatever day it is <3

I am making sure I write my blog posts this week, even if I’m not entirely sure what I am writing about. I am getting a clearer idea on what Indgosky2Knit is doing in the future, both my teaching side and my creative selling side. Not only that, but am also working out how to progress my aromatherapy and crystal business in line with my position as an independent consultant for NYR Organics.

Of course attempting to grow 2 businesses and declutter a life and home around 3 children, 2 home educated and 1 toddler, well let’s just say it takes some serious planning and organisation.

Last week I got a gorgeous new planner from Cordwain Higgler which will perfectly suit my business planner inserts from Ultimate Success Planner on Etsy. Now I have my business planner, home ed diary and family organiser, and my personal life journal in 3 separate binders, which means 3 times the planning fun 😉

So this week I am working on some fabulous custom orders, an adult waterfall cardigan, starting a chunky adult sweater and a child’s ballet shrug. I am also making as many little baby items as I possibly can to add to my Etsy shop. I am also putting out my first call for beta testers of my online video teaching or adults, sign up to my newsletter for details of that, even though I’m still not sure where and how that is working, but that’s why I need some lovely testers.

I’ll be teaching local home educated children tomorrow, as well as taking my own girls to their various classes and groups through the week, we have art, football and a couple of social events. Then before I know it it’s Sunday again and I’m planning another week!

I am loving this journey though, this journey to living the life I want, giving my children the freedom they deserve and watching my husband find and follow his dreams too <3

Have a great week lovely readers, and maybe I will get another post or two written this week. Oh yes, it’s great to be back.

Much love and best wishes

Davina 😀

Trying to work it all out

Never underestimate the work going on in the back ground of a small business/entrepreneur/mompreneur. Much of which we are doing in our ‘free time’.

IMG_20170814_094207_254I seem to spend most of my days at the moment writing lists and working out plans for how and when I can do things. A lot of these plans are dependant on how much income I get from my businesses, and January and February have a reputation for being quiet.

I literally have no new orders at the moment, which is unusual for me, and only a couple of outstanding ones to work on. On the plus side this is giving me time to work on some new things, which is part of the bigger plan, but the quiet time does mean I can’t follow through just yet on working further on those bigger plans, like setting up my website or buying new equipment to set up my video work.

Times like this have made me feel like I should give it all up, it’s time to go out and find a ‘proper’ job which is reliable, but then I’d be more limited on what I could do with the Big, Small and Teeny girls home education, in fact that possibly wouldn’t even be an option. So as I watch my Small girl playing football, and take my Big girl swimming, and see the Teeny girl at our local messy play group, I remember this is why I have chosen this life, and I work all the more at trying to work out how I can best serve people who will support me in my businesses.

If reading this consider taking a look around my Etsy Store and picking up something that this week will help me take my kids to their various activities and maybe even move that website forward. Or if organic skin care and natural products are more your thing, be sure to check out my Neals Yard replica site

Much love and gratitude to you all

Busy, busy, busy

Wow, seriously this life is non-stop! I love it and wouldn’t change it, but organisation is a must, and I’m still getting on top of that, haha.

This year so far has seen, my Big and Small girls start drama classes, my Small girl start soccer coaching and my Teeny girl return to our local messy play group where she’d not been for a several months. Tomorrow sees the return of the much loved art classes for my Big girl, with my Small girl starting her course in another 8 weeks time.

As well as that I have been teaching knitting once a week to fellow home educated children, and at the Small girl’s footy class I am teaching a fellow mum crochet. This is all leading me to the next step for Indigosky2Knit, which you will have to stay tuned for 😉

This is home ed life, this is what I’ve looked forward to since we first made the decision around 9 years ago when I was pregnant for the first time. A long history of home ed from my older sister, and a fabulous example of how great it can be in my now grown nephews, it is them that keeps me going on days where I wobble. All these great chances my girls get to follow their own interests at such a young age are all brought about by the work I do, and of course Mr I2K’s gardening and graphics work.

I’m looking forward to how much further we’re going this year with all our adventures, and it is all down to every single person who supports our businesses, so if you’re here reading this, even for that little support, Thank You.

Much love

Time to Teach

Hey lovelies, halfway to the weekend already! Today I’m talking about the very start of some of this years plans.

Towards the end of 2017 I started to teach. As a home educating mum who happens to 20170213_101444995190863.jpgknit and crochet I have been asked a few times about teaching children yarn crafts. A couple of years ago when I was juggling a relatively new baby and had newly moved house, I did a handful of lessons back in the city we had moved from. This presented a few challenges that ultimately ended up in my having to discontinue them. Almost an hour travel by train each way, occasional missing of lessons by students after I’d arrived, the baby (who came with me at that point) turning into a toddler who didn’t want to sit still for 3 hours while I taught, and just life, all got quite hectic. I was quite sad, because it was something I enjoyed, and I did vow to restart local to me, where I could stay home if everyone suddenly fell down sick, or the weather was so awful noone wanted to attend. But, my fears and worries all kept making me put it off.

20171205_1122122128706627.jpgAround October last year, the mum of one of the children I had previously taught put a request out for knitting teachers again. Local to me, and having been a previous pupil, I decided it was the sign I was waiting for to get my at together and start again. So I did! This time with more confidence, not in my crafts, I have been doing those long enough to trust my skill, but in my ability to assist someone else to make something incredible.

In the meantime I had managed to teach one of my own children to the point she has finished projects and have had enough interest from adults to know once I have the resources adult lessons will be next. Yes, that’s right in a few weeks time I will be putting a call out for my first virtual, adult students to learn to knit or crochet.

For now I hope you’ve enjoyed the little pics through of my various students work, they do so great for little hands (my youngest student is just 7) and keep your eyes open in my Facebook Group for that call for adults students coming soon.

With much love
